Theatre Teacher Training Faculty

Maggie McClellan worked as a professional actress around the country before combining her acting career with teaching at the university level. She has taught acting, movement, voice and speech, improvisation, auditioning, and period styles in a number of conservatory programs at universities including Cornell, the American University in Cairo, Egypt, and the University of Miami. At SOU Maggie teaches Movement for the Actor, Improvisation, Acting, and Auditioning/Career Development. A writer as well as a director and actress, she has had two of her plays produced: the children's play Fable Tales and a musical adaptation of Lysistrata  She is currently exploring collaborating on a textbook for movement for actors. She attended New York University's BFA theatre program, where she studied with Stella Adler and members of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. She then received her BFA in theatre from the California Institute of the Arts and her MFA in Theatre from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

Maggie McClellanIn 2009 Maggie will join Chris DuVal to teach the a la carte course Stage Combat.

In 2007, Maggie joined David Kelly to teach the a la carte course Teaching Voice and Movement for the Actor.
