Physical Therapy Preprofessional Program (PPTH) - Interdisciplinary Studies major with a focus in Health & Exercise Science
Major Information
Faculty Coordinator: Jenny Slawta, slawta@sou.edu, 541-552-6264.
A B.S in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Health and PE may be used to earn a degree while also meeting prerequisites for physical therapy (PT) schools. While this degree is not labeled as Pre-Physical Therapy, the objective is to complete a comprehensive course of study that satisfies course requirements for PT schools. The degree is composed of coursework from Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Math, Psychology and Health and Physical Education. As an alternative to an Interdisciplinary Studies degree, students may want to consider becoming a Biology major and work to complete all courses needed for entry into PT school.

Pre-Nursing Advising
The Pre-Nursing program at Southern Oregon University is not a formal academic program, or associated with any specific major. Students who are interested in Nursing programs should speak with the program advisors about the different paths and options leading to a nursing program. There are different levels of programs, each requiring slightly different prerequisites. The courses listed below will be the ideal path for students interested in common BSN-RN programs, but students should meet with the program advisor for additional questions
