The Certificate in Applied Finance and Economics program equips you with a base of analytical methods and tools used in finance and economics and develops critical and quantitative thinking. Your online courses include an in-depth study of markets, financial institutions, international finance, investments, and micro- and macroeconomics. The program is open to all students but is particularly attractive to students majoring in either business or economics since it integrates courses from both disciplines. In size and scope, the certificate is between a minor and a major and is jointly offered by the business program and the economics program.
The certificate program is open to all students: undergraduate, graduate, and post-baccalaureate. To be awarded this certificate, students must meet Certificate in Applied Finance and Economics program requirements and requirements for a BA or BS degree at SOU (or the transfer equivalent). A majority of credits for the Certificate in Applied Finance and Economics must be taken at SOU.
To meet these goals, students must select elective courses tailored to their career interests. The Certificate in Applied Finance and Economics program requires completion of thirty-six credits, consisting of five required courses and four electives.
