The Certificate in Interactive Marketing and E-Commerce develops advanced marketing knowledge in a fast moving technological world. Identifying relationships with customers, engaging through multi-channel marketing, and developing brand loyalty are essential in today’s marketplace.
Our experienced faculty engage students in lectures, class exercises, real world projects, and group work to enhance their future success in the world of interactive marketing and e-commerce. Students will learn to plan, direct, or coordinate marketing policies and programs using all forms of media and distribution. They will understand how to develop pricing strategies with the goal of maximizing the firm's profits or share of the market while ensuring the firm's customers are satisfied. They will monitor trends for new product development, services, and communication techniques to reach their target market. Upon completing, students have the confidence and well-rounded expertise to succeed in any industry.
The certificate program is open to undergraduate, graduate, and post-baccalaureate students. Students must take prerequisite courses in business computer applications, statistical methods, principles of marketing and web development before commencing the Certificate in Interactive Marketing and E-Commerce. To pursue this certificate, students must be a current SOU students who are meeting the requirements for a BA or BS degree and students who already have a BA or BS degree (postbaccalaureate).
The course requirements for the Certificate in Interactive Marketing and E-Commerce are designed to equip students with the necessary marketing, computer technology, design, and multimedia skills to succeed in direct and Internet marketing and e-commerce. Students will become well versed in advanced business applications such as database management, spreadsheet applications, direct marketing, Internet marketing, and social media. The Certificate in Interactive Marketing and E-Commerce requires completion of 32 credits, consisting of 24 credits in required courses and 8 elective credits.
Graduates of the certificate program possess the technical skills to work with information technology and web technology groups in business, government, nonprofit, and educational settings. The certificate program is open to both current and postbaccalaureate students. It is a great complement to a major in Business Administration, Emerging Media and Digital Arts, or Computer Science.
The Certificate in Interactive Marketing and E-Commerce requires completion of 32 credits, consisting of six required courses and 8 elective credits. (See below.) Program prerequisites include BA 131, Mth 243, CIS 200 and BA 330. Transfer courses require Advisor's approval. All courses taken for the certificate must be completed with a grade of C or better. Students must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA in all certificate courses.
