To apply for Federal Financial Aid, you must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). There are two ways to file this application. The FAFSA may be completed on You may electronically sign the FAFSA or the Renewal FAFSA by obtaining an FSA ID. Parents of dependent students may also ontain a separate FSA ID.

If you are interested in attending Southern Oregon University, you must list SOU's school code 003219 on the FAFSA. If SOU is listed as a school you plan to attend, your information is transmitted electronically from the Federal Processor to SOU. Up to ten schools can be listed on the FAFSA.

When analyzing the FAFSA, the Federal Processor takes into consideration family size, basic living expenses, income, assets, and resources. Additional documents may be requested by the Financial Aid Office in order to determine your aid eligibility. Provide these documents promptly in order to avoid delay. If your family or financial situation changes after you have filed your FAFSA, you can fill out a Professional Judgement request.
