Welcome New Students and Families!

Congratulations on your choice to become a Southern Oregon University Raider! We are eagerly awaiting your arrival to campus to introduce you and your family to SOU. 

New Student Orientation (NSO) programs are the first step toward graduation. NSO programs are dynamic, student-centered experiences to inspire a purposeful transition into the SOU community. 

NSO programs consists of academic sessions, social activities, and workshops. NSO fosters an emotional connection to the people, places, and ideas of the SOU community to inspire success. Within this community built at orientation, you will learn from staff, faculty, and current students the best practices for academic and personal success as you begin the journey toward graduation. All new students are expected to participate in New Student Orientation. New Student Orientation Programs assist you in your transition to SOU. Students Engage in NSO Programs through:

  • An Online Orientation, this can be accessed anytime.

  • Raider Registration (summer)

  • Week of Welcome (fall)

Week of Welcome Orientation is currently scheduled for Sunday, September 20 - Saturday, September 26, 2020. 
We are intending to have in-person events for students living on-campus as well as a program that can be fully experienced online. During Week of Welcome we will continue to offer programming that will assist our students in making connections and getting oriented to campus.


Housing move-in dates will happen prior to these dates and will be scheduled through University Housing, please check your email.
