The Raider Wilderness Experience (RWE) offers a great chance to start your college career with adventure and challenge. These safety minded, small group adventures are led by SOU student staff to some of the best outdoor locations in the region. These fun and challenging adventures are a great way to make friends and have some time to reflect on your transition into university life. All adventures include instruction, meals, equipment, park entrance fees, and three nights of camping. No experience is necessary for any of our adventures. Backpacking

Experience the backcountry and sleep under the stars, far away from city lights. The Pacific Northwest is home to some of the most unique wilderness areas, many of which can only be reached by foot. You can fit everything you and your group need into your pack, and set out to explore the trail and all it offers. This Backpacking trip includes hiking through the forest, gourmet backcountry meals, making new friends, and an adventure to kick off the school year. All experience levels welcome.

Stand Up Paddleboarding

Beat the heat and have an adventure in the beautiful Pacific Notrthwest, exploring the lush forests, Stand Up Paddleboarding mountain lakes and wandering hiking to beautiful water falls. – then settle in for the evening around a campfire with new friends. Start the school year off right by getting in your wilderness time before classes begin. All experience levels welcome.

Rock Climbing Adventure

Experience the exhilaration of rock climbing as you push yourself to the limit and challenge yourself to do something new! Learn how harnesses, ropes, and other equipment make it possible to reach the top.  Start the school year with a bang as you push your limit and make new friends climbing rocks!  All experience levels welcome.

Mountain Biking Adventure

Pedal your way to adventure as you ride the trails on your mountain bike. Learn the techniques that will lead you to confidently turn, hop, whoop, and smoothly conquer the dirt, roots, and rocks in your path. This adventure is a great way to begin experiencing mountain bike trails of Southern Oregon and a chance to hang out with new friends and eat good food around the fire at night. All experience levels welcome.

Whitewater Adventure

Charge into the whitewater of famous Oregon rivers. Armed with a paddle, you’ll be ready to get wet and have a blast as you learn how to navigate downstream. After each day of splashing rapids, you’ll get a chance to warm by the fire, eat good food, and hang out with new friends. This epic adventure is how you want to start your school year.  River location and craft (rafts or inflatable kayaks) to be determined in August.
