Students are our priority, a statement we live by, not just something we say. With that in mind we design our program and class schedule around our students and we select faculty who are student-focused.

Most required classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays only, excluding summer term classes. The two year class schedule is given to students at the Fall orientation and a link is available below allowing you to look at a sample version. The CMHC curriculum is designed to help students achieve professional competence in knowledge, skills, and attitudes expressed in the clinical mental health counseling standards that are required by state licensing boards and national accreditation (CACREP).

All CMHC courses are taught face-to-face on the Ashland Campus.

All core counseling classes at SOU have the COUN prefix to make it easy to recognize them. Use the links below to see our registration page and our course descriptions. The majority of classes offered for the CMHC program are designated as CMHC Only, no other students are allowed in, unless approved by the instructor.

Two important resources for students are the CMHC Graduate Handbook and the SOU Graduate Student Handbook. Both of these handbooks provide students with a variety of information regarding their educational career and institutional expectations while attending SOU.
