Leadership Development Class Returns Winter Quarter

The Leadership Development course (UGS 199 CRN 4814) is designed to prepare students for leadership roles and responsibilities here at Southern Oregon University as well as in students community, career, and organizational activities after graduation. This course begins with the premise that leadership is a process which can be learned.

In this course, students will examine several broad themes, including leadership language; leadership theories and styles; self-awareness, personal management, and productivity techniques; awareness of student’s values, ethics, motivations, strengths, and limitations; an understanding of intersectionality and the importance of a global perspective; communication; decision-making; group dynamics, including followership and power; and flexibility.

The course runs for 5 weeks from 1-5 on Fridays and will be structured in a way that is fast paced, collaborative, and engaging.
