Academic and Career Advising Changes Coming to You in 2017–18

In support of SOU’s commitment to the well-being and success of all learners, we are excited to introduce our new team of Student Success Coordinators – a group of professionals dedicated to outstanding student service.

What's New?
A Student Success Coordinator for each academic division who will assist students with:

  • academic advising
  • transitioning to the university
  • aligning career goals with academic majors
  • utilizing academic plans to promote a path to graduation
  • providing opportunities to enhance career exploration and preparation

This team will provide innovative and holistic solutions for students and will serve as a key resource for helping students navigate university policies and procedures.

What’s Changing and When?
Before October 13:
All questions and requests for advising before October 13 will be handled as normal. Students can call or visit the Advising Center in the Academic Support Programs office in the basement of the SU.

After October 13:
Students with a declared major will continue to work with their major advisor. All other requests for advising will be handled by the Student Success Coordinator in the division where the student’s major is housed. Students without a major can contact Undergraduate Studies for advising, or contact the division closest to their interests.
