It's been a long winter and we've missed the sun. Here's what we have going on this term at the Outdoor Program so we can get out and make the most of our weekends. We have climbing, whitewater rafting, backpacking and other fun trips for students. Below is a list of adventures for each weekend of Spring Term so you can plan ahead and join us.

April Weekends

Friday 14th- Sunday 16th: Wilderness Survival Weekend
We are leading an awesome trip to Toketee Falls for a fun filled weekend of outdoor survival, we will teach you all about shelter building, fire building, how to find water, and so much more! We recommend bringing a book and a journal because you will be spending some time alone. We are also going to be hiking to see the beautiful waterfall. So if you love beautiful scenery, camping, and meeting like-minded people come join us for a fun, primitive weekend in the outdoors!

Saturday 22nd: Rattlesnake Climbing Trip
The Outdoor Program's first climbing trip of the spring season! We will be spending the day climbing at the Rattlesnake crag, a 45-minute drive from Ashland. This crag is made up of a series of bluffs ranging from 30 feet to 100 feet tall. The walls are full of fun climbs as well as areas that will test you and help you grow as a climber. With more than 100 climbs along its length, this crag is a perfect destination for climbers of all abilities. The fee will cover transportation, instruction, gear, and lunch. 

Friday 28th-Sunday 30th: Whitewater Rafting and Climbing Extravaganza
We are excited to offer the opportunity to do not 1 but 2 different outdoor activities in one amazing trip. The Outdoor Program is leading a trip to the North Umpquas where we will be whitewater rafting down the North Umpqua river and climbing in the North Umpqua forest at a location called Honeycombs. This is geared toward all skill levels. You do not need any experience to join us for a fun filled weekend! If you are looking to get outdoors and enjoy the beautiful weather, see some amazing scenery, and meet some spectacular people then come join us.

Saturday 29th- Sunday 30th: Redwoods Backpacking
An out and back backpacking trip through Fern Canyon in the Prairie Creek Wilderness. You'll be surrounded by Redwoods and beautiful Ferns along this canyon trail.

Saturday 29th: Stand UP Paddle Boarding at Emigrant Lake
Learn how to SUP, participate in SUP yoga, and even play a game of SUP water polo! Lunch will be provided and will be enjoyed on the sandy beaches of Emigrant Lake. Beginners to advanced SUPers welcome.

May Weekends

Saturday 5th: Art Yoga Hike with the Queer Resource Center
On May 5th the Outdoor Program and the QRC will be leading a sunset hike on Grizzly Peak! This beginner level hike will offer opportunities to explore yoga and various forms of art while appreciating the beautiful view from the top of Grizzly Peak. Spaces are limited, so sign up soon.

Saturday 5th- Sunday 6th: Overnight Caving Trip to Lava Beds National Park
Join the Outdoor Program for an introductory caving trip to the California Lava Beds National Monument. As a group, you will get the opportunity to explore various caves that were carved out by lava thousands of years ago. We will visit multiple different caves that offer both exciting history and plenty of adventure. There will be two days of caving and one night of car camping. The trip price includes all meals and snacks during the trip, transportation, caving equipment, and camping fees.

Friday 12th- Sunday 14th: Oregon Coast Camping
Explore Oregon's incredible tide pools, scenic coasts and SUP along The Smith River as well relax alongside Panther Beach for 3 days and 2 nights.

Saturday 20th-Sunday 21st: Ladies Beginner Backpacking Trip
Have you ever wanted to go on a backpacking trip but don't know where to start? Join the Outdoor Program and the Women's Resource Center for this two day, 6-mile hike along the beautiful Rogue River Trail. With easy to moderate terrain this trip will be designed for beginners with little to no experience, especially for women and femmes who have avoided outdoor excursions but have always wanted to try it out. The registration food includes all camping gear, backpack, meals, and transportation. Financial need-based fee waivers are available from the WRC.

Friday 26th- Monday 29th (Memorial Day Weekend): Backpacking in The Wild Rogue Wilderness
A skills development trip for any students interested in learning outdoor leadership skills and becoming an Outdoor Program trip staff. During the four-day adventure, you will learn facilitation skills and be surrounded by beautiful wilderness.

Through our page we post events and trips; if you find a trip you are interested in signing up for click on the link and you shall see a SIGN UP HERE button. If there is a trip on this list that is not posted on SOU Connect it is in the process of being posted. New trips may also appear that are not listed above so keep an eye out for trips that get posted later on.
