The Faculty Writing House is a new space on campus for faculty to write, collaborate, be creative, and work on research projects. Thanks to Kylan de Vries and the team of faculty (Jessica Piekielek, Devora Shapiro, Margaret Perrow, and Carey Jean Sojka) who worked so hard to make this space a reality. Over 50 people attended an open house on September 25, and got a tour of the facilities.
We are grateful for support from the academic divisions and the Provost’s office. A special thank you to Facilities, Management & Planning for all their work to help make the House a comfortable place for faculty to work on scholarly and creative projects.
All faculty are welcome to drop in to the house during fall term open hours, get an orientation to the house, and fill out an application to get your own key. Open hours this fall:
Tuesdays 1:30-3:20 pm
Wednesdays 9-10:50 am
Thursdays 3:30-5:30 pm
Fridays 2-4 pm
Wifi, coffee, quiet spaces to write, and comfy chairs are available.
The Faculty Writing house is located at 1089 Ashland Street (at S. Mountain Ave.).
