An internship is a work experience in an on- or off-campus setting for which a student receives academic credit. The Communication Program cooperates with local agencies and businesses to provide a wide variety of opportunities that give real-world application of the concepts learned in the classroom. Supervision is provided for the student at the place of assignment by a designated on-site supervisor. Our faculty Internship Coordinator further supervises the student's progress and may serve as a liaison between the work site and the University.
Students completing a practicum will enroll in one of the following courses:
- COMM409A - Practicum/Internship in Communication Studies
- COMM409B - Practicum/Internship in Digital Cinema
- COMM409A - Practicum/Internship in Social Media & Public Engagement
Practicum credits are repeatable for a maximum of 15 credits, although no more than 12 credits of COMM 409A, 409B, 409C can be applied to the Communication major; additional credits will apply as elective credit. Students must have Junior standing to enroll.
