The BAS degree was the first degree of its type in the State of Oregon. It prepares students for managerial careers in technical fields offering two concentration areas of study: Management and Tourism Management. This program offers a seamless transition from an associate’s degree in a technical field earned outside of business to a bachelor’s degree program. Traditionally, technical credits were treated as “non-transfer,” but this program values the work completed at the community college and saves student time and money.
Students will conduct a comprehensive analysis of individual and group behaviors in organizations, demonstrate a thorough understanding of the basic fundamentals of business, use critical thinking skills and practical knowledge to solve specific business management problems, and apply career development strategies and progress into management-level positions.

The perfect candidates are students with drive and desire to develop business knowledge. Students prepared to develop critical thinking skills, analytical skills, mindful innovative thought and ethical environmental awareness are ideal for the SOU Business Administration Program.
The BAS degree prepares students for managerial careers in technical fields. This Bachelors degree program offers a seamless transition from an associate of applied science degree in technical fields earned from a community college. This degree allows students experience in management, marketing, accounting, organizational structure, strategy and elective courses that will enhance the student’s professional development to augment their area of technical expertise. Up to 124 quarter hours may be transferred into the program, and the remaining courses may be completed at SOU.
The final project applies the skills and knowledge gained during the student’s School of Business experience. Overall business knowledge is tested and utilized during the capstone project and many students find confidence in their ability to produce quality business work, making them competitive in the job market.
