Alisha Higley    

Customer Service Manager

Alisha assists students with registration, financial aid, and billing issues.
Education: BS in Business Administration from Southern Oregon University and currently pursuing a Master's in Interdisciplinary Studies from Southern Oregon University.
Interesting fact: Backpacked through Western Europe

Katrina Simpson

Associate Registrar
Katrina has primary administrative responsibility for coordinating the effective daily operation of student records and registration activities.  Katrina serves as University Registrar in the absence of the University Registrar.
BS in English & Writing and Master in Management from Southern Oregon University.
Interesting fact: Loves a rainy day.
Favorite campus spot: Susanne Homes residence hall.

Kristen Gast

Director of Financial Aid 

Kristen is originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, and has served in Financial Aid for over 12 years. She started out as a financial aid work-study student and found her dream career from that moment. Kristen loves financial aid, as crazy as that seems!!! 
Education: MA in Organizational Leadership from Colorado State University, BA in Communications from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Interesting fact: Kristen is a US Navy Veteran and was one fo the first five women aboard the USS Essex (LHD-2).
Favorite campus spot: Right now, it's the Human Bean!

Matt Stillman

University Registrar/
Co-Executive Director of Student Enrollment      

Matt serves as the University Registrar, the University's FERPA compliance officer and student records officer, and serves as the general manager of the Enrollment Services Center. He supervises student registration, grading, academic progress, student records and transcripts, degree evaluation, academic scheduling and transfer articulation. He collaborates to develop and implement various academic and administrative policies, works on matters of enrollment, retention, and admissions research and planning, and serves as the Building Manager for Britt Hall.
Education: Ed.D in Educational Leadership and Higher Education from University of Nebraska, MS in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration from Indiana University and BS in Political Science from Southern Oregon University.
Interesting fact: Met wife as a freshman at SOU and have been together ever since. SOU is an important part of his life in many ways.

Jason Piazza

Enrollment Services Associate

Jason assists students with registration, financial aid and billing issues.

Education: Bachelors in Business finance with a minor in IT Technologies
Interesting Fact:Likes to help people and enjoys assisting his kids in their homeschooling program.
Favorite campus spot: The library. The architecture is beautiful, he wants to travel to Italy and he feels going and viewing the floor is a little get away from it all. In general the campus is naturally beautiful, it expresses everything great about Oregon.

Adam Lucier

Associate Director of Financial Aid

Adam is our new Associate Director and he is excited to be here at Southern Oregon University. He has worked in financial aid for over 8 years and has helped many students in the states of Michigan and California. Adam enjoys providing support to our staff and students and finding ways to improve their financial aid experience.

Education: BA in Communications from the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor.

Favorite Spot on Campus: Anywhere with a view of the surrounding mountains! 

Interesting fact: Adam is an Army Brat has lived in over 20 different places including Germany.

Paul Coffelt

Financial Aid Counselor

Paul administers Financial Aid Programs and counsels students and parents about financial aid. That's all we let him do right now because he just joined our office in January, 2019!

Education: BA in Liberal Studies from CSU San Marcos and MA in Sociology from CSU Fullerton

Interesting fact: Paul is also an Assistant Coach for the Men's Soccer team at SOU!

Karinda Decker

Financial Aid Counselor

Karinda administers Financial Aid Programs and counsels students and parents about financial aid. Karinda is also the point of contact for Consortium Agreements.

Education: BA from University of Oregon and MA in Postsecondary Adult and Continuing Education from Portland State University.

Interesting fact: Loves watching college football.

Stephanie Hanigan

Scholarship Coordinator

Veteran Certifying Official

Stephanie is responsible for managing, reviewing, and awarding scholarships while working with the Foundation Office and other departments on-campus as well as off-campus to ensure scholarship funding is current and up to date. She is the campus point of contact for The Ford Family Foundation and one of the campus contacts for The Office of Student Access and Completion. Stephanie also works closely with the Director and Associate Director of Financial Aid to regulate financial programs and maintain internal and external compliance while also acting as the Veteran Certifying Official in the Veteran's Resource Center. Additionally, she is one of the main contributors in the development of the campus' Financial Literacy Program.

Education: BA in Art, English, and Communication from Juniata College and currently pursuing a MS in Education with SOU!

Interesting fact: Studied in England for a semester during her senior year of college.

Favorite campus spot: Too many to choose just one!

Debbie O'Dea

Financial Aid Counselor

Debbie works with prospective and current students and their families to counsel them on the financial aid process, eligibility criteria, and loan options. She works closely with the Office of Admissions to assist in outreach events, and is the point of contact for students participating in study abroad programs.

Education: BA in International Studies from Pacific University and MS in College Student Personnel Administration from Canisius College.

Interesting fact: Debbie coordinates weddings when not on campus, is an Army veteran, and used to work in show business (where she once compared tattoos with Aaron Neville).

Favorite Spot on Campus: Any of the study rooms in Hannon Library with a view of the valley!

Eric Walker

ESC IT Consultant

Eric provides technical support for Enrollment Services focusing specifically on financial aid.

Tiffany Thom

Academic Scheduling Coordinator

Tiffany is responsible for academic room scheduling, reviewing and entering catalog information, irregular registrations, creating the finals schedule, and assisting departments with academic course creation and scheduling.

Education: BA in Spanish and Humanities with minors in Linguistics and English from California State University-Chico
Interesting fact: Went bungee jumping while studying abroad in Costa Rica and loves sloths

Racquel Berglund

Transfer Articulation Coordinator

Racquel is responsible for evaluating and awarding transfer coursework and helps coordinate the development and maintenance of transfer articulation agreements.

Education: BS in Psychology from Southern Oregon University

Katherine Cable

Academic Records Coordinator

 Katherine is responsible for academic records, course evaluations, athletic eligibility, academic appeals, and a variety of other core registration and records areas.

Education: Pursuing dual degrees in Art and EMDA at Southern Oregon University.
Interesting fact: Trained in pursuit, defensive, offensive, and combat driving.

Jasmin Evans

Enrollment Systems Coordinator

 Jasmin provides systems support to the Registration and Records team.

Julie is responsible for degree evaluation and awarding.

Education: BA in Intercultural Studies from Biola University
Interesting fact: Spent a semester in China, a summer in Kenya and picked her major in college because she wanted to be like Indiana Jones.

MaryAnn Neely

Registration Systems Analyst and Production and Support Lead

MaryAnn is the registration system analyst and provides leadership to the Enrollment Services Production and Support team.

Education: BS in Computer Science and Masters in Management, both from Southern Oregon University.
Interesting fact: Enjoys time with kids, grandkids and pets.
