Environmental science is the investigation and body of knowledge related to the dynamic interactions between people and natural systems.  The Department of Environmental Science & Policy at Southern Oregon University fosters the study of natural and social systems and provides students with the opportunity to assess the complexity of environmental problems and search for solutions.

The Department of Environmental Science & Policy provides the opportunity to develop an understanding of the complexity of natural resource use and sustainability enabling students to appreciate dynamic environmental issues as responsible global citizens.  The Department of Environmental Science & Policy addresses such global issues as water resource management, energy use, sustainable development, and the conservation of biodiversity.

The Department of Environmental Science & Policy will prepare students for a wide variety of employment in such organizations as governmental agencies, industry, non-profits and consulting.  The Department of Environmental Studies will also prepare students for graduate and professional schools in areas such as environmental policy and management, law, business, public policy, and environmental science.
