Marieke Gaboury (1998), Director/Producer
Marieke Gaboury has recently relocated to New Orleans, Louisiana, and is the Managing Director of Southern Rep, one of the only professional theatre companies in the region, a producer of new plays, and home to the recently created Lily Prize (an award for women of color playwrights). New Orleans is a big change after 13 years in New York City, where she was Producing Director of LAByrinth Theater Company, working for seven years alongside former Co-Artistic Directors John Ortiz and Philip Seymour Hoffman to develop and produce work by some of the most distinguished theatre artists in the country. Also a company member of LAByrinth, Marieke has a background as a director, writer, actor and teaching artist. As a director, her work has been seen in Off Broadway venues in NYC, including with LAB at The Public Theater, as well on the West coast. Her screenplay The Hard Place is currently in development with Twenty2Films. Training includes Southern Oregon University and American Conservatory Theatre.
