Office of International Programs Annual Awards

 

Each year, outstanding international students are honored at a year-end ceremony hosted by the Office of International Programs. The Universidad de Guanajuato International Achievement Award and the Robert J. Bennett International Student Services Award are presented to two students nominated for their academic achievements and community involvement. Both awards consist of a certificate, as well as placement of each student’s name on a permanent plaque located in the Office of International Programs. The Robert J. Bennett International Student Services Award also includes a monetary award.

 

 

 

Universidad de Guanajuato International Achievement Award

 

 

 

This award honors SOU’s time-honored partnership with the Universidad de Guanajuato in Guanajuato, Mexico. This multi-faceted exchange has benefited hundreds of students, staff and faculty members for over forty years. The exchange between Southern Oregon University and the Universidad de Guanajuato exemplifies the best in international cooperation.

 

 

 

Robert J. Bennett International Student Services Award

 

 

 

This awards honors SOU’s first International Student Advisor, Robert “Bob” Bennett. Bob served as International Student Advisor at SOU for nearly thirty years before retiring in 1989. His selfless support for international students at SOU and his ability to encourage their contributions to the campus and community set a model for all to emulate. His positive tone and generosity live on in the many contributions made on and off campus by SOU’s international students.
