To obtain an an Oregon-issued ID card or Driver License, you will need to go to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in Ashland. The DMV office is located at 600 Tolman Creek Road, and their hours of operation are Tuesday-Friday from 9am-5pm.

You must be a registered student at SOU before you can obtain either an ID card or a driver's license. Check with the International Student Advisor before you go to the DMV to make sure he/she has registered you in SEVIS. Otherwise, your application will not be accepted.

To obtain an Oregon ID card, you must:

- Fill out a Oregon ID Card Application Instructions

- Provide proof of your full legal name

- Provide proof of your legal presence in the US, identity and date of birth

- Provide proof of your Oregon residence address (a piece of mail addressed to you with your current address printed of the envelope will usually work)

- Provide a valid mailing address

- Pay the original application fee of $20 (only payable through cash or check)

- Surrender any valid driver license or permit issued by Oregon or any other jurisdiction.

To obtain an Oregon driver's license, you must:

- Have no medical condition that makes you unable to drive safely

- Have no suspended, cancelled, revoked or otherwise withdrawn driving privileges in Oregon or any other state

- Fill out a Oregon Driver License Application Instructions

- Provide proof of your full legal name

- Provide proof of your legal presence in the US, identity and date of birth (Bring passport, visa and I-94 card)

- Show proof of Social Security Number, if you have one

- Provide proof of your Oregon residence address (a piece of mail addressed to you showing your current address)

- Provide a valid mailing address

- Pay all testing and issuance fees

- Surrender any valid driver license or permit issued by Oregon or any other jurisdiction

- Pass the driver license (Class C) knowledge (written) test

- Complete and pass the drive testing a fully functional, street legal, Class C vehicle for which you can provide proof of insurance

- Pass a vision screening
