Thank you for your interest in the Master in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at SOU. We hope the information we have provided in this section about our application processes will help you become a more informed applicant for our program.

Priority deadline is February 1 every year. Student acceptance letters are mailed by late March and the cohort will begin classes in the Fall term. Following the priority deadline, there is rolling admissions until we are full.

Application for the 2023 cohort is closed. Application for the 2024 cohort will open October 31, 2023.

For international students:

International students do NOT need to take the GRE.  Only the TOEFL test is required for acceptance.

Applicants MUST also complete a separate form to become a Southern Oregon University graduate student in addition to the CMHC application. See SOU Admissions.

The GRE is optional for applicants. The GRE typical required scores on the verbal and quantitative sections should be 300 combined, the analytical writing section should have a minimum score of 3.0. Test scores can be accepted within 5 years of the test date. GRE SOU GRE school #4702. We do not accept the GRE Psychology Subject Test.

The CMHC program accepts 20-22 students every year. A typical year averages 65 applications. The average undergraduate overall GPA is 3.44 with a range of 2.60 to 4.03. The average GRE scores were verbal 152, quantitative 150, and analytical writing 4.00. Students applying were of a wide range of ethnic backgrounds.
