1. Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university (3.0 GPA in last 90 quarter hours).
  2. Admission to SOU Graduate Programs.
  3. Proficiency in computer literacy, speech, and diversity.

Passing score on Basic Skills Test (CBEST, Praxis I PPST, or Praxis CBT).
Documented experience with children, preferably those with exceptionalities.
Prerequisite course: Foundations of special education.
Highly recommended courses: Mathematics for Elementary Teachers; Foundations of Multi-Cultural Education.
