What is Success at Southern?

Since 1994, Success at Southern/TRIO Student Support Services program is committed to increase the college retention, academic standing and graduation rates of eligible participants. By providing a variety of services to meet students' needs, we assist eligible participants in clarifying their goals, succeeding academically in their chosen program of study, and graduating with a bachelor's degree in a timely manner.

Through a grant competition (Title IV), funds are awarded to institutions of higher education to provide opportunities for academic development, assist students with basic college requirements, and to motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education. The goal of SSS Programs is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants.

During these 25 years, Success at Southern/TRIO SSS program has served more than 1,500 students most of them first generation and low income students.

Our Mission

The Success at Southern/TRIO SSS program is dedicated to provide a holistic environment that honors the diversity and experiences of all students. Through intentional advising, mentoring and advocacy TRIO staff support students as they pursue and complete their academic, personal and career goals.
