SOU Pandemic Resumption of Activities Plan and Requirements - Effective June 15, 2020
As part of its gradual reopening and in an effort to comply with contact and tracing requirements, all SOU active employees, students, volunteers, and affiliates who are scheduled to work must complete the SOU Daily Self Health Check Questionnaire regardless of work location (approximately 15 seconds). Those in need of a thermometer may inquire with Human Resources (Churchill Hall-Room 159, email@example.com; 541-552-8553).
Face coverings are required in shared or common spaces, at all campus activities, and outdoors when social distancing cannot be maintained until there is a reliable treatment or vaccine. Although employees are encouraged to provide their own face coverings, the university has a limited supply available for those who are unable to make or buy their own. Face coverings can be obtained, without charge, at the following locations:
- Human Resources (Churchill Hall, Room 159)
- Student Health and Wellness Center (560 Indiana Street)
- Information Technology (Computing Services, Help Desk)
- Facilities, Management and Planning (351 Walker Street).

The purpose of Human Resource Services is to contribute to the educational mission of Southern Oregon University by developing, implementing, and administering a wide range of personnel programs within the guidelines provided by State and Federal regulations, University Shared Services Enterprise, and the University. Human Resource Services is part of the Division of Finance and Administration and is located in Churchill Hall Room 159. During summer 2020 (6/14-9/19) only, office hours are Monday - Thursday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and CLOSED Fridays. Otherwise, office Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

For a Verbal Verification of Employment (i.e. simple confirmation that an employee is employed at the University) please call 541-552-8553. Our policy is to only release whether or not an employee is currently employed with the University with a yes or no answer, any other information will require a faxed request for information to 541-552-8508. For Written Verification of Employment (i.e. mortgages, re-financing, etc.) please fax paperwork along with a signed release from the employee to 541-552-8508. Section 485 of the Higher Education Act, and The Federal Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990 (now referred to as the “Clery Act”), requires that current and prospective students and employees are notified of the availability of our Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. The report provides the annual statistics and campus policies for the reporting of and responding to campus crimes and fires; access to campus facilities; conduct code and campus policies on use, possession and sale of drugs/alcohol; and educational/information programs to inform the campus community about campus security procedures and crime prevention.
