Is ACADEMY a good fit?
ACADEMY is an enrichment program for students who can benefit from challenges beyond the standard school curriculum. In some cases, information about ACADEMY may be sent home from school. However, if your school has not distributed information and you think your child would benefit from the program, you may request more ACADEMY information directly from Pre-College Youth Programs by emailing us at email@example.com.
The main priority of school staff, parents, and the ACADEMY staff who evaluate student applications is whether the program will be a positive experience for the student. If you feel your child is a candidate for ACADEMY but are not sure, ask his or her teacher or give us a call.
Which session do I apply for?
Session 1 is for students completing grades 5 and 6.
Session 2 is for students completing grades 7 and 8.
Junior Counselors are students completing grades 10-12.
Both sessions run concurrently.

Because of the popularity of ACADEMY, we encourage students to complete their applications early and submit them in a timely fashion. Applications will not be reviewed until all documentation has been received and files are complete. The Application Deadline is April 30, 2022. We will continue to accept applications after the April 30th deadline until we can no longer.

Applicants will be notified as applications are received and reviewed. Applications will be reviewed in order of completion. We review hundreds of applications a year so please be patient in this process. No application is reviewed until all parts of the application are received so please keep tabs on your application and check in with us periodically if you have questions about the status.
How much does it cost to attend ACADEMY?
ACADEMY is a self-supported program funded through student tuition, donations and grants. The tuition for 2022 is:
Student tuition: $950
Junior Counselor tuition: $675
We offer a returning student discount of $25 and a sibling discount of $25. For siblings, first siblings pay regular price and subsequent siblings get a $25 discount.
Limited tuition assistance may be available, see details below.
How is tuition assistance determined?
All students are eligible for ACADEMY tuition assistance on the basis of demonstrated financial need. Tuition Assistance should be requested as part of the student's online application.
UPDATE FOR 2022: We anticipate receiving more tuition assistance dollars to pass along to students for this summer's ACADEMY. While this funding isn't finalized yet, our hope is to provide tuition assistance on a sliding scale based on household need with no cap on the maximum award, until funds run out. If you are holding off on applying for camp this summer due to a financial barrier, please don't wait! We'd love to see your child's application and will work with your family to make these opportunities available until we reach program capacity.
When are students notified about tuition assistance awards?
Students are notified about tuition assistance after June 1, 2022. Due to the quantity of applications ever year across all of our many summer residential programs, we unfortunately cannot notify about tution assistance earlier than June.
When should payment of the tuition occur?
Tuition is due only after acceptance. Payment information is included in acceptance notificatons. We accept cash, check and Visa/MasterCard payments online or over the phone.
What happens if I have to cancel?
Sometimes conflicts come up! We appreciate hearing as soon as possible since there may be a student on the waiting list we need to notify. A $50 cancellation fee may be assessed.
What about Living Groups/Counselors?
Students are supervised in 10-12 co-gender Living Groups. Your student’s Living Group Counselor will become a very important person to your student. The counselors are college students who have experience in youth programs and counseling. They've been selected for their leadership skills and enthusiasm for working with young people. Parents are given the oppertunity to meet with their student's counselor during the check-in time to ask questions and share information and concerns.
What about requesting a classmate?
One of the best things about ACADEMY is the new and lasting friendships students make during their week on campus. We do
accept classmate requests; however we encourage your child to meet new people. If your child wishes to request a classmate, there is a section on the online application to do so. Requests must be noted by both students on their applications. Please plan accordingly. Requests not made by both students will not be honored.
