Ultimate Golf & Footgolf Experience Ages 8-10 9:00am-12pm
Enjoy cool mornings on the greenway with two fun activities specially designed for youth. First, explore the emerging sport of footgolf, played on a specialized golf course designed for soccer balls. Then, practice your swing with traditional golf instruction that will have you teeing up for a short game in no time! Participants will learn all aspects of both games to unlock hours of approachable fun on their local golf course. This class is a partnership between West Coast Golf Academy (WCGA) and SOU Youth Programs, and will take place on Oak Knoll Golf Course in Ashland. No prior experience required, and all necessary equipment will be provided.

Ready, All Row! Ages 10-14 9:00am-12pm
Feel the joy of gliding swiftly across the open water on Emigrant Lake in this rowing experience! First, you’ll learn the basics of proper equipment handling and rowing terms, practice mechanics and techniques of rowing, and review water and boat safety. Then you’ll move out onto the water, as you learn to synchronize your motions for enhanced performance and speed. All students must wear a life jacket, and be prepared to responsibly pilot an individual watercraft (maintaining distancing). No prior experience required, and all necessary equipment will be provided.

Comics Come Alive! Ages 10-14 9am-4pm
From 2D to 3D bring your characters to life! Each day is a full day of fun and innovation. In the mornings work on your comic book with character creation, storyboards, and fantastic illustrations. After lunch transition to bringing your characters into 3D through marvelous mask-making. Using a variety of materials the faces of your main characters will come to life, giving you the opportunity to play out their stories in real time. At the end of the week, you will be the proud creator of a brand new comic book and marvelous masks. No prior experience required, all materials supplied, lunch not supplied.

Climb on! Join our professional climbing instructors as they teach you to take the climbing skills you have learned and enhance them on a state-of-the-art climbing wall in the SOU Recreation Center! In this class, you will learn next-level climbing skills: advanced knot-tying, anchor building, rescue and rappel gear use, competition level climbing techniques, and so much more! Our knowledgeable instructors will help you ascend your way to the top in this exhilarating sport.

Learn more than just how to follow a recipe, unleash your culinary creativity! All new recipes are paired with the same breadth of culinary knowledge for chefs of all levels. This is a hands-on experience where budding young chefs will learn kitchen basics such as safety and preparation techniques. You will be inspired through culinary explorations in tastes and textures. Enhance your knowledge of fruits, vegetables, herbs & spices while gaining confidence and experience in the kitchen that will last them a lifetime. This class is a partnership between Cosmic Muffin and SOU Youth Programs.

Create a brand new world, and take it with you wherever you may roam! Using your imagination you will dream up characters and the environments they live in. You will learn how to wet felt and create dynamic backdrops for your peg doll people. Once you have felted, painted, drawn, and decorated you will have a unique transportable world all your own!

LEGO Robotics TechKnow 101 Ages 9-14 9am-12pm
Push your creativity and engineering skills to the limit, in the LEGO robotics makers space where you will design, build, and program robots using LEGO EV3 kits. Develop your robot incorporating sensors and motors, and then program it to perform! Every day you’ll work to further develop your robot, and write new programming to compete in creative challenges. Build, code, and play your way to robot mastery! Fun for both beginners and experienced participants.

Using just basic materials you can build the most wonderful creations. In this class, you will learn many different kinds of paper maché paste, paper, and create fantastic beasts, costume pieces, and more. This is a great class for all skill levels and is designed to introduce you to the amazing the range of possibilities of this wonderful material and get your imagination working!

Summer Festival Foods Ages 10-14 9:30am-12pm
Spend a week preparing those foods we've come to associate with Summer Celebrations. July 16th is National Ice Cream Day and July 19th is National Hotdog Day. On top of learning culinary basics in the kitchen, you will learn how to cook classic foods we know and love from County Fairs, Beach Picnics, and Backyard Campouts. All level chefs are welcome, no prior experience is needed. This class is a partnership between Cosmic Muffin and SOU Youth Programs.

Storybook Creation: Beginning to End and Everything in Between Ages 7-10 9am-12pm
Bring your stories to life! Learn to write, illustrate and produce a real book. Break down all the stages of a great story and grow your own narrative voice. Learn to map your plot, develop your characters, and brainstorm ways to craft the pieces of your short story together to make an unforgettable story. Using inspiration from stuffed animals, real animals, and imaginary friends, spin a story of fantasy and wonder. At the end of the class, everyone goes home with their own unique handcrafted storybook.

Dive into the amazing world of air-dry clay! In class, you will sculpt air-dry clay animals and make botanical plaster art to take home. Learn the basic techniques of working with air-dry clay, and how to use clay modeling tools. Use natural materials in your creations, and take inspiration from the plants and animals around you. Beyond the Canvas - Mixed Media Workshop Ages 10-14 9am-12pm
Launch your imagination as you explore a wide range of mediums, tools, and techniques that will help you develop your artistic style. Expand what you see as art surfaces and art materials. Explore textures on paintings/collages with safe household items, and how to incorporate nontraditional objects. Science Fiction and Fantasy can transport readers to a faraway planet or deep inside a futuristic civilization. Whether you seek to write short stories or novels, cyberpunk or high fantasy, you’ll learn to craft tales that entrance the reader and are full of wonder. Sharpen your drawing skills and learn to see shapes in a completely new way! Drawing the human form will open up new possibilities in your artwork. You’ll learn to think about proportions, block in shapes, and understand how the parts of the human body work together to create one form. Guided by a professional artist, you will practice these techniques while drawing from live clothed models in a studio setting.

Song Writing for Kids Ages 9-14 9am-12pm
Discover the tips and tricks of songwriting with a professional musician. Get an introduction to the mechanics of songwriting and learn how to write a song of your own! You will explore the principles of songwriting using the tools and techniques you need to write your first song. You’ll look at some of the fundamentals of songwriting, building your knowledge as the week goes on. No prior experience is required. No instruments are required but are welcome.

Printmaking: Pattern Palooza Ages 10-14 1pm-4pm
Create unique patterns and images by carving linoleum blocks. Learn carving, pattern making, and placement. You will be applying ink to block, paper, and fabric, while learning the printmaking processes, as well as composition. Explore color layering for dynamic finished pieces. Take home completed projects on a variety of materials!

Young Scientists: Messy Experiments Ages 7-9 9am-12pm
Do you always want to know “why”? Do you love to experiment with and explore the many mysteries of the world around you? This is the class for you! Come get your hands dirty with gooey, foamy, dynamic experiments all while learning about the fundamental components of the scientific world. No prior experience is required, and all supplies are provided.

Rock the Wall! Ages 8-10 9am-12pm
Climb to new heights on the state-of-the-art climbing wall in the new SOU Recreation Center! Beginners will learn all the tricks of experienced climbers: knot-tying basics, gear use, movement skills, and, of course, climbing techniques. Our knowledgeable instructors will help you scramble your way to the top in this exhilarating outdoor sport. No previous experience is required and all necessary materials will be provided.

Wonderful Wall Hangings! Ages 9-14 9am-12pm
Come put a new twist on a classic art form and create beautiful weavings and amazing wet-felted wall hangings. You can choose to weave on a branch, cardboard loom, or in a circle. Learn the magical art of wet-felting wool! Spin your own yarn to add to your creation and add embellishments to make it unique. Experience the process of shaping wool into functional art. No prior experience is required, and all supplies are provided.

Contemporary Choreography Ages 10-14 9am-12pm
Whether you're just starting out or are an advanced mover and shaker looking to supplement your existing dance training Contemporary Choreography class will allow you to go behind the scenes and become teachers, dancers, visionaries, creators, collaborators, and directors! You will learn new and different styles of dance to create pieces that you can perform for each other as well as take home and perform for your friends and families. No prior experience is required, all materials are supplied.

Printmaking: Pattern Palooza Ages 10-14 9am-12pm
Create unique patterns and images by carving linoleum blocks. Learn carving, pattern making, and placement. You will be applying ink to block, paper, and fabric, while learning the printmaking processes, as well as composition. Explore color layering for dynamic finished pieces. Take home completed projects on a variety of materials!

Amazing Acrylics! Ages 10-14 9am-12pm
In this class, you will use acrylic paints to explore color and value while creating abstract and observational paintings. Explore your painting skills, and discover the ways we see color and how our brains perceive it. This class will be a fun, experimental way to learn advanced concepts that will help you harness the power of color and observation in your artwork.

Kids Culinary Tour of America Ages 10-14 9:30am-12pm
Let your taste buds lead the way, East Coast to West Coast, North to South, America's gastronomic melting pot offers a wide range of food experiences! Learn the culinary secrets that have grown throughout America's history. Taste the cultures that have come together to build the unique culinary quilt that covers America. All level chefs are welcome, no prior experience is needed. This class is a partnership between Cosmic Muffin and SOU Youth Programs.

Digital Drawing with Adobe Illustrator Ages 11-15 9am-12pm
Master the foundations of digital drawing and illustration and create art like a pro! Learn the relationships between lines and shapes, and color theory, all while improving your sketches using digital techniques to sketch objects and scenes from life and from your imagination. No prior experience is required, and all necessary equipment is provided.

AMP Music Camp Ages 12-15 9am-12pm
Audio & Music Production (AMP) is a dive into the modern music industry! Whether beginners or experienced creators, you will develop your individual and collaborative craft in songwriting, audio production, sound design, and mixing/mastering. Bring your creativity and thirst to learn. At the end of the week, you will leave having created a portfolio of audio and music projects. No prior experience is required, all materials are supplied.
