A camp celebrating excellence in African American and Black Youth, grades 5-12.

June 15 – 19, 2022

In collaboration with the Southern Oregon Black and African American Student Success Grant, SOU Pre-College Youth Programs is happy to announce new summer programming in celebration of Black/African American Youth in Southern Oregon. The Southern Oregon Black Youth Summer Institute is a residential camp exploring a broad range of classes, lectures, cultural experiences and recreational activities in a university setting for students completing grades 5-12. Selected students will interact with other students living in Southern Oregon who identify as a community member of the African diaspora, a worldwide collection of communities descended from native Africans. Participants will also spend time with Black/African American leaders, and instructors during classes, presentations, and recreational activities. The tuition for 2022 is $50 which is thanks to Grantors like the African American Student Success Grant and Southern Oregon Educational School District.
