Earn College Credits for your Language Proficiency Exam during High School
2022-23 School Year Participation Information:
About
Students demonstrating appropriate language proficiency can earn 8 – 20 university credits based on their AAPPL or STAMP4S test scores.
Students in upper-level Spanish courses who have pre-registered through SOU Pre-College Programs and have provided their scores after taking the online exam and having those scores delivered to SOU through their instructor, will then have the option to purchase the 8-20 SOU language credits awarded by the SOU World Language faculty for a flat fee of $315.
Credits awarded by the SOU World Language faculty will be transcripted as (CBE) Proficiency credit and are transferable to other institutions of higher learning in accordance with that institution’s policies. Purchasing these steeply discounted credits has the potential to save students and their families significant future tuition costs.
Students should speak directly to their high school language teachers, or with their school counselor (if they aren’t currently enrolled in a language course) about participation in this program. Students should inquire if their high school will pay the fees for either the online test or the college credits.
Eligibility
Graduating High School Seniors currently enrolled in level 3,4,5 or AP Spanish classes are eligible to register for the FLP program in the Spring. Juniors currently in the highest level their high school offers, and/or Spanish Heritage Speakers may also participate.
We recommend students be finishing the highest level of Spanish class they intend to take prior to graduation from high school when they participate in this program, because they are most likely to receive the highest possible test score at that point.
Registration
Register through SOU Pre-College Programs, then take the AAPPL or STAMP 4S in the Spring. Test through your school, and have your instructor share your score with SOU for equivalency evaluation, and then purchase your credits.
